Subsistence and dietary studies in the Archaeological record are poorly understood. This work describes a study on modern peoples diet undertaken within and adjacent to the Koobi Fora region of the East Lake Turkana Basin in North Horr District, Northern Kenya using actualistic and isotopic analysis. The ultimate goal is to provide an interpretive framework for investigating the subsistence strategies and diet of people believed to have occupied the region during the last 10,000 years. The three modern groups used in this study are not direct analogues for the Holocene peoples but do have diets similar to those proposed in the region by Barthelme (1985). However, if these peoples diets are found to be discrete, then it may be possible to identify similar subsistence strategies in the regions Holocene record. The data from this work is important not only to archaeologists but to botanists and ecologists.

It’s easy to raise an eyebrow when you hear the term paleo diet. Many people assume it’s just another diet with a poorly thought-out weight-loss scheme, but it’s not some gimmick or fad that will fade away. It’s just a return to the diet that nature intended for us to have. It traces back to the days of our ancestors where we were hunter and gatherers during the Paleolithic Era. The paleo diets consists of dietary stables such as seeds, nuts, berries, and fresh meat. The paleo diet, much like the Atkins diet, will cut out most of your carbs. However, unlike the Atkins diet which will focus on how many carbs you cut from your day to day meals, the paleo diet will focus more on your overall health. The Atkins diet encourages people to gorge on meats, even if they have antibiotics or hormones used. The paleo diet requires that you eat healthy meats that are hormone-free and grass-fed. There are studies that suggest it is not a coincidence that Atkin dieters suffer from heart attacks. This diet even allows you to gorge on fatty meats such as bacon, which is soaked in grease and sure to leave you with clogged arteries, despite how thin someone may be. In short, the Atkins diet can increase your cholesterol and contribute to heart disease. However, the paleo diet does not have the same pit falls, since it concentrates on more than just the reduction of carbs. It also concentrates on the actual nutrients that you’re putting into your body. It doesn’t matter how many low-carb and low-fat foods you eat if the nutrient value isn’t what you need for your body. You’ll still be unhealthy. Like every organism on the planet, our bodies and their needs have been defined and developed over time, and it is important that we address those needs properly. 1. It is unfortunate that most of the toxins that we are exposed to every day exist even in our own backyards. They are found in the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, and even the products we have inside our homes. Even though our bodies possess all the necessary tools to protect themselves against harmful elements and repair themselves from any damage that these elements might inflict, our bodies were not designed to handle such exposure to toxic materials with this magnitude on a daily basis. The main part of the body that is assigned this huge responsibility is the liver. The liver is undoubtedly one of the most amazing organs of the body. It has the ability to deal with complex tasks and perform vital roles for the body to function as it should. But it cannot simply handle all the work necessary to get rid of these toxic elements out of the body, and it will eventually shut down if it does not get all the help it needs. Apart from consuming only the kinds of food that strengthen and assist the liver in performing its huge list of tasks to keep the body healthy and stable, doing a liver detox will allow the body to restore its natural healing abilities by cleansing it of harmful substances. This process gives your liver a short but extremely crucial break from the dietary and lifestyle habits that may be debilitating to your health. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Trevor Clinger.
